What is Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is a branch of treatment that uses physical means to relieve pain, regain range of movement, restore muscle strength and return patients to normal activities of daily living. Methods used may include the use of manipulation /mobilisations of joints and muscles, massage, exercise or electrotherapy. Physiotherapists help and treat people of all ages with physical problems caused by illness, accident or ageing.

Physiotherapy is a health profession concerned with the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of disease and disability through physical means. It is based upon principles of medical science, and is generally held to be within the sphere of conventional (rather than alternative) medicine. Physiotherapy sees full and functional movement as at the heart of what it means to be healthy.

Marek Holowenko M.C.S.P., S.O.M.M.

Marek Holowenko is a skilled physiotherapist who is chartered and state registered. His effective treatments combine an orthopaedic medicine approach with myofascial tissue analysis and mobilisation. He has worked within the fitness and rehabilitation profession for nearly 20 years, previously specialising in exercise referral and cardiac rehabilitation. As well as being a qualified sports psychologist, Marek is also a qualified advanced Pilates instructor who is currently studying towards an MSc in orthopaedic medicine.
