The Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light (AROPL) recruitment video on youtube https://www.youtube.com/shorts/oHvXp38c0mM featuring Abdullah Hashem (Aba Al-Sadiq) presents an “inclusive” facade that carefully masks a deep structure of coercive control. While the language centers on “love” and “mercy” for the LGBTQ+ community, the underlying message is designed to create a total psychological dependency on a single human leader.
1. The “Father” Trap: Redefining Family as Authority
As noted in the video and by its members, Abdullah Hashem is addressed as “Father.” This is a textbook tactic used by high-control groups to move followers away from biological families and toward a leader-centered “shadow family.”
- The Psychological Hook: By taking the title “Father,” Hashem positions himself as the ultimate paternal protector. This makes dissent feel like a betrayal of a “parent,” which triggers deep-seated emotional guilt in followers.
- The Biblical Counter-Argument: For a movement that claims to “correct” Christianity, they are in direct defiance of Jesus’ explicit command: “And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven” (Matthew 23:9). Jesus gave this command specifically to prevent the type of human-idolatry seen in the AROPL.
2. “Inclusion” as a Recruitment Tactic
Hashem states that “Allah refuses that anybody condemn these people” and that their entry “enriches” his mission. While this sounds progressive, in a recruitment context, it serves a specific function:
- Targeting the Marginalized: High-control groups often target individuals who have felt rejected or “condemned” by mainstream society. By offering “radical acceptance,” the leader creates a massive emotional debt.
- The Isolation Strategy: By framing the rest of the world (other churches, mosques, and traditional families) as a source of condemnation, he ensures that new recruits feel they have no other safe place to go. This is the first step in creating a closed compound environment.
3. The “Utility” of Followers
The video emphasizes that these members “contribute phenomenally” to the leader’s da’wah (missionary work).
- The Red Flag: In this recruitment model, a person’s value is often tied to their utility—how much they can work, create content, or promote the leader’s brand.
- The Cost of “Love”: In high-control groups, “acceptance” is never truly free. It is often exchanged for total submission, including the 17-hour workdays and passport seizures that have been documented in the AROPL’s UK operations.
4. Historical Parallel: The “Children of God”
This video follows the exact playbook of The Family International (Children of God). Their leader, David Berg, also went by “Father David” and used a “Law of Love” and “sexual liberation” to recruit young people. Like Hashem, he told his followers they were the only ones truly loved by God, while the “system” (the outside world) was hateful. This rhetoric was used to justify decades of systemic exploitation and abuse.
Summary: True spiritual light should lead to personal freedom and critical thinking. When a recruitment video uses “progressive” labels while showing followers surrendering their autonomy to a human “Father,” it is not a reformation it is an induction. This movement uses “mercy” as a hook to pull people into a system where their labor and identity are owned by a leader who claims to be the only source of divine love.
