How a Conspiracy Documentary Evolved into a Religious Movement

Supporters of the Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light (AROPL) often present the movement as a unique religious revelation centred upon Abdullah Hashem, Ahmed Al-Hassan, and The Goal of the Wise.
However, when examining the historical record, a different picture emerges.
Long before AROPL existed, Abdullah Hashem and his collaborators were already building an international audience through a multimedia project known as The Arrivals.
The significance of The Arrivals is frequently underestimated.
It was not merely an internet documentary.
It was an ideological framework.
It introduced many of the core themes that would later become central to Abdullah Hashem’s religious movement.
The movement that eventually became AROPL did not suddenly appear in 2022.
Its foundations can be traced back through Hashem Studios, TADS, The Wake Up Project, and ultimately The Arrivals itself.
The evidence is found in the project’s own mission statements and descriptions.
The Explicit Mission: Awakening Humanity
The official description states:
“Trying to expose the plans of Satan and his followers by providing details and proofs of the way they want to control our lives and minds to blind us from the truth and the worship of the ONE GOD.”
This statement is revealing.
It immediately establishes a worldview divided into two camps.
On one side stands truth.
On the other stands deception.
Humanity is portrayed as being manipulated by hidden forces.
The role of the movement is to expose those forces.
This framework would later become a defining feature of AROPL theology.
Throughout The Goal of the Wise, readers are repeatedly told that humanity has been deceived by religious institutions, political systems, scholars, governments, and hidden powers.
The specific enemies change.
The structure remains identical.
The world is deceived.
The truth has been hidden.
A special source possesses the truth.
The individual must awaken.
The Creation of an Alternative Authority
The Wake Up Project described itself as:
“A website & a movement.”
This language is significant.
The project was never presented as simply a collection of videos.
It was already being described as a movement.
The description continues:
“Our team is lead by a group of talented and aspiring directors, media developers, animators, composers, internet moderators, and network and community leaders.”
This shows that even at this early stage, the project was developing organisational structures, leadership roles, community management, and recruitment mechanisms.
These are characteristics of a developing movement rather than a simple media project.
The later emergence of AROPL can therefore be understood as the formalisation of structures that already existed.
The Language of Awakening
Perhaps the most important passage in the entire description is the review written by Tony Passarelli.
He writes:
“The Arrivals is more than information to be uncovered: it is new knowledge and awareness, waking one’s inner consciousness.”
This sentence captures the essence of the movement.
The viewer is not merely learning facts.
The viewer is being transformed.
The project presents itself as a source of awakening.
The same theme appears repeatedly throughout Hashem Studios history.
Forum administrators frequently used slogans such as:
“Awaken O Sleepers, Awaken O Dead.”
The purpose was not merely education.
The purpose was conversion.
The viewer was encouraged to see themselves as part of a small group of awakened individuals who had escaped deception.
This insider-outsider distinction later became a central feature of AROPL.
The Promise of Secret Knowledge
The review continues:
“It opens doors to truths that are hidden by their own clarity.”
And:
“Prepare yourself for revelations that will shock the foundations of your soul.”
And:
“You will wake up the following day with a new awareness.”
This language is extraordinarily important.
The project repeatedly promises hidden truths.
The viewer is told that ordinary people cannot see reality.
The documentary will reveal what has been concealed.
This same structure later appears throughout The Goal of the Wise.
The subjects differ.
The methodology remains the same.
In The Arrivals the hidden truths involve:
- the New World Order,
- secret societies,
- mind control,
- occult symbolism,
- hidden elites,
- the Antichrist.
In The Goal of the Wise the hidden truths involve:
- reincarnation,
- soul families,
- extraterrestrials,
- hidden covenants,
- corruption of scripture,
- divine succession.
The pattern remains unchanged.
The Construction of a Total Worldview
One of the most striking features of The Arrivals is its extraordinary scope.
The episode list includes:
- Mind Control
- Children’s Mind Control
- Architecture & Energy
- The Battle for Human Energy
- Pharaohs of Today
- Hollywood
- Media & Islam
- War on Terror
- UFO Phenomena
- Satanic Pop Culture
- Freedom Unplugged
- The Antichrist Dajjal
- The Truth About The Gods
- The Great Deception
- The Infiltration of Religion
- The Temple of Solomon
- The Story of Jesus
- The Story of Islam
- Bloodlines
- Gatekeepers
- The Symbolism of 9/11
- The Arrival of the Mahdi
- The Arrival of Jesus
This is not a narrow documentary.
It attempts to explain virtually everything.
Religion.
Politics.
Media.
History.
Entertainment.
Spirituality.
Prophecy.
World events.
This is important because high-control ideological systems often succeed by providing followers with a single framework that explains all aspects of reality.
The Arrivals was already functioning in this manner.
It offered viewers a complete explanatory model of the world.
The Apocalyptic Framework
The official description states:
“This Series Explores the Revelations in World Religions Regarding the Arrivals of the Antichrist Dajjal, Imam Al-Mahdi, and The Second Coming of The Christ.”
The title itself is revealing.
“The Arrivals.”
Not a possible arrival.
Not a future arrival.
The Arrivals.
The implication is that these prophetic events were already approaching.
This created a constant atmosphere of urgency.
The viewer was encouraged to believe they were living during the final stages of history.
This same urgency later appears throughout AROPL literature.
The message remains consistent:
History is reaching its climax.
The signs are appearing.
The time is short.
Action is required now.
The Evolution Into Religious Authority
The most significant observation is that The Arrivals already contained the core architecture later found in AROPL.
The documentary promoted:
- hidden knowledge,
- awakening,
- secret truths,
- end-times urgency,
- distrust of institutions,
- spiritual transformation,
- alternative authority structures.
Over the following decade these concepts expanded.
The hidden knowledge became theological revelation.
The awakening became covenantal allegiance.
The alternative authority became divine authority.
The movement became a religion.
The documentary became scripture-adjacent literature.
The filmmaker became a religious leader.
Conclusion
The historical evidence suggests that The Arrivals should not be viewed merely as an internet documentary.
It functioned as the ideological foundation from which later developments emerged.
Many of the central themes that would eventually characterize AROPL are already visible within its mission statement, promotional materials, episode structure, and community language.
The documentary introduced a worldview built upon deception, awakening, hidden knowledge, apocalyptic urgency, and alternative authority.
The later religious movement expanded those same themes into a formal theological system.
For this reason, understanding The Arrivals is essential for understanding the later development of Abdullah Hashem’s movement.
The documentary was not simply the beginning of a media project.
It was the beginning of an ideology.
