KJV Only & KJV PrefaredDefending the Bible: A Response to Islamic Critiques
Summary of KJV-Only and KJV-Preferred Positions
The KJV-Only position claims that the King James Version (KJV) is the sole divinely preserved English translation, based on the Textus Receptus (TR) and Masoretic Text. Advocates reject modern translations, believing they stem from corrupt manuscripts, particularly those of the Alexandrian tradition. Some even consider the KJV itself inspired, making it superior to the original biblical texts.
The KJV-Preferred position regards the KJV as a strong but not exclusive translation, favoring it for its literary quality, historical impact, and textual basis. However, if textual tradition is the reason for preference, earlier translations like the Geneva and Tyndale Bibles should be considered superior. Since different translations rely on different manuscript families, comparing them directly can be misleading. A balanced approach considers textual accuracy and historical context rather than favoring a single translation.
Many Muslim apologists challenge the Bible’s authenticity, claiming it has been corrupted and superseded by the Quran. This section provides a reasoned defense, addressing common critiques while demonstrating the Bible’s historical reliability, theological consistency, and divine authority. We examine key differences between the Bible and the Quran, refuting misconceptions and affirming the truth of God’s Word.
