Examining Claims about Angels, Archangels, and Their Roles According to Scripture

Introduction

“Door Number Seventeen” from the teachings of Imam Ahmed Al-Hassan presents a detailed narrative about angels and archangels—particularly Michael, Azrael, and others—and their supposed incarnations, cosmic origins, and roles in present-day spiritual affairs. This teaching proposes that archangels incarnate physically, require spiritual “food” through Qur’an recitations, come from other planets or dimensions, and serve as earthly agents tied to eschatological figures such as Imam Mahdi and the Qaim.

Such claims fundamentally conflict with the clear and consistent biblical teaching about angels, their nature, and their roles. This article provides a thorough biblical refutation of these assertions, grounding each point in Scripture and orthodox Christian theology.

1. The Nature of Angels According to the Bible

The Bible unequivocally teaches that angels are created spiritual beings who serve God and carry out His will. They are ministering spirits (Hebrews 1:14) who may appear in visible form but are fundamentally immaterial.

  • Hebrews 1:13-14 — “Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?”
  • Psalm 104:4 — “He makes his angels winds, his ministers a flaming fire.”

While the Bible names Michael as an archangel (Jude 1:9) and speaks of his role as protector of God’s people (Daniel 12:1), nowhere does it teach that angels permanently incarnate as humans. They may appear visibly at times (Genesis 18; Hebrews 13:2), but these are temporary manifestations, not ongoing physical incarnations.

The idea that angels “need” spiritual nourishment or Qur’an recitation misunderstands their nature as spiritual beings. Angels do not depend on human worship or scripture recitation to exist or function.

2. Refuting the Claim That Angels Require Qur’anic “Food”

One of the more striking claims in the text is that angels require spiritual sustenance in the form of Qur’an recitation. This notion has no biblical foundation.

  • Matthew 4:4 — “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.”

This verse refers to human beings, emphasizing dependence on God’s Word. Angels are not sustained by physical or spiritual food. As spiritual beings, their existence and mission are wholly dependent on God’s sovereign will, not on human rituals or recitations.

3. The Error of Angelic Incarnation Claims

The teaching that Azrael (the angel of death) and Michael incarnate physically today is unbiblical.

  • Hebrews 13:2 — “Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.”
  • Luke 24:39 — Jesus shows He is not a ghost but has flesh and bones.

Jesus Christ’s incarnation is unique. No angel is said to take on flesh permanently or become a human agent in the New Testament. Angelic appearances in the Old Testament and New Testament were temporary, usually for specific divine missions.

4. Michael the Archangel: Spiritual Protector, Not Earthly Ruler

Michael’s biblical role is that of a spiritual warrior and protector of Israel.

  • Daniel 12:1 — “At that time shall arise Michael, the great prince who has charge of your people.”
  • Jude 1:9 — Michael disputes with the devil over Moses’ body.

There is no biblical basis for identifying Michael with a human figure such as Ahmed Murad or linking him to earthly rulership connected to the Mahdi or Qaim. This conflation is extra-biblical and heretical from a biblical perspective.

5. Clarifying Azrael and Azazel

The text confuses two separate figures:

  • Azrael is traditionally known in Islamic and Jewish folklore as the angel of death but is not mentioned by name in the Bible.
  • Azazel is a wilderness demon mentioned in Leviticus 16:8, 10 related to the scapegoat ritual.

The conflation of these two is a false syncretism that distorts biblical angelology and demonology.

6. Rejecting Extraterrestrial Angelic Origins and “Sky Giants”

The idea that angels come from other planets or are “Sky Giants” is a modern myth with no biblical support. Scripture portrays angels as created by God to serve Him and carry out His purposes on earth and in the heavens.

7. Jesus Christ: The Sole Mediator and King

Claims that archangels possess divine authority or are linked as earthly agents to eschatological leaders contradict core Christian doctrine.

  • 1 Timothy 2:5 — “For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”
  • Revelation 19:16 — Jesus is “King of kings and Lord of lords.”

No created being, including angels, is given the authority to reign or mediate salvation apart from Christ alone.

8. Additional Specific Claims from the Text

The “Guardian of the House”

The text speaks of a “Guardian of the House,” an angel who protects believers. While Scripture affirms angelic protection (Psalm 91:11-12), there is no biblical warrant for assigning a specific angelic guardian role linked to a particular religious figure or group.

Angelic Physical Incarnations as “Sky Giants”

Descriptions of angels as “Sky Giants” or beings from other dimensions confuse biblical angelology with New Age and occult ideas.

Conclusion

The teachings of “Door Number Seventeen” about archangels and angels are at odds with biblical revelation and orthodox Christian doctrine. Scripture clearly teaches that angels are created spiritual beings serving God, who do not incarnate physically, do not require spiritual sustenance from human scriptures, and act solely under God’s authority.

Faith and trust in Jesus Christ, the unique incarnate Son of God, the only mediator between God and humanity, alone guarantee spiritual protection and salvation.
